Dave Meltzer reports in his Wrestling Observer newsletter that a middleweight bout for the top contender spot will feature Vitor Belfort taking on Yushin Okami in the main event of UFC 122 in Oberhausen, Germany this November:
Vitor Belfort vs. Yushin Okami will be the main event of UFC 122 on 11/13 in Oberhausen, Germany. This will be a Spike show in the U.S. The winner will likely face the Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen winner for the middleweight title sometimie next year.
UFC 122 is expected to air for free in the US on Spike TV via tape delay on November 13th. The rumored card now includes:
- Vitor Belfort vs. Yushin Okami
- Jorge Rivera vs. Alessio Sakara
- Jason Brilz vs. Vladimir Matyushenko
- Krzysztof Soszynski vs. Goran Reljic
- Amir Sadollah vs. Peter Sobotta
- Dennis Siver vs. TBA
- Pascal Krauss vs. TBA
- Kris McCray vs. TBA
I wanna see Vitor fighting again . :)

Mislio sam zbog one njegove povrede. Trebao je da radi mec za titulu sa Silvom jos januara, pa je zbog Andersonove povrede mec odlozen, e onda se i Vitor povredio...zato sam rekao napokon :) Inace znam sve njegove borbe :)

The UFC's return to Germany is now official.
The event, UFC 122, takes place Nov. 13 at Konig Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, Germany, and airs via same-day delay on Spike TV.
Officials confirmed the event and a Vitor Belfort (19-8 MMA, 8-4 UFC) and Yushin Okami (25-5 MMA, 9-2 UFC) headliner during this week's "Ultimate Insider" episode on UFC.com.
The winner of Okami vs. Belfort is expected to earn a title shot with current champ Anderson Silva or challenger Chael Sonnen, who are expected to rematch by early 2011, possibly at a Jan. 1 UFC 125 event.
Okami, who long has flirted with title contention, most recently earned a split-decision win over Mark Munoz at UFC on Versus 2. It was his his fifth win in his past six fights, which included additional victories over Lucio Linhares, Dean Lister, Evan Tanner and Jason MacDonald. The lone loss came to Sonnen.
Belfort, meanwhile, looks to reclaim an earlier promised title shot. However, when Belfort was sidelined by a shoulder injury, Demian Maia and then Sonnen got shots at Silva's belt.
Nevertheless, Belfort is riding a five-fight win streak, and four of the wins came in Cage Rage and Affliction Entertainment. A year ago at UFC 103, he returned to the UFC for the first time in four years and scored a first-round knockout of Rich Franklin in a 195-pound catchweight bout.
Germany hosted its first show – UFC 99 with a Franklin vs. Wanderlei Silva headliner – in June 2009. Despite some resistance from the German media that resulted in a ban on minors from attending the show, UFC president Dana White vowed the organization would return to and continue its expansion in the European country.

BELFORT OTPAO !!!
An injury has forced Vitor Belfort out of his UFC 122 main event fight against Yushin Okami in Germany. In to replace Belfort will be Nate Marquardt, who just picked up a TKO win over Rousimar Palhares at UFC Fight Night 22.
Marquardt’s placement in the fight was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by sources close to the bout, who stated the fight has been signed for the new main event at UFC 122.
Bouncing back strong from his loss to Chael Sonnen in February, Marquardt made short work of Palhares in their fight last Wednesday night in Austin, Texas.
Following a leg lock attempt from Palhares early in the first round, Marquardt hammered the Brazilian with a punch that rattled him, and then proceeded to finish the fight just seconds later, getting the win at 3:28 into the bout.
The win was Marquardt’s ninth in the UFC. The Colorado fighter had stated he hoped to get another fight sooner rather than later following the victory. It looks like he got his wish.
There has been no official word about the injury sustained by Belfort, but MMAWeekly.com will continue to follow the news and provide an update when more information is available.
The bout between Marquardt and Okami will headline UFC 122 in Germany, which will air via tape delay in the United States on Spike TV.
Prior to the change, the fight between Okami and Belfort was to determine a new No. 1 contender to the middleweight title. In all likelihood, the fight between Okami and Marquardt would carry the same stipulation.

As it turns out, Vitor Belfort (19-8 MMA, 8-4 UFC) isn't injured. And, in fact, he's expected to meet UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva (27-4 MMA, 12-0 UFC) early next year, possibly in the headliner of a UFC 125 event on Jan. 1 in Las Vegas.
Sources close to the event today confirmed the tentative plans with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).
Belfort had been scheduled to fight Yushin Okami in the headliner of November's UFC 122 event before a recent card change.
Instead, as first reported by MMAWeekly.com, Okami now fights recent UFC Fight Night 22 winner Nate Marquardt. Although initially believed to be injured, Belfort is, in fact, healthy, according to a recent Twitter post from UFC president Dana White. Belfort now will bypass the No. 1 contender's bout at UFC 122 for an immediate title shot with Silva.
UFC 125 takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and the night's main card airs on pay-per-view. The event currently needs a headliner, and Silva vs. Belfort certainly fits the bill.
Belfort, of course, takes a slot initially designated for Chael Sonnen (25-11-1 MMA, 4-4 UFC), who dominated Silva for more than four rounds at UFC 117 before succumbing to a triangle choke in the final two minutes of the fight. Sonnen had been promised an immediate rematch, but he failed his UFC 117 drug test, which he plans to appeal. The process could go well into 2011 before it's resolved.

Nisi razumeo moje pitanje, sve ja to znam, ali mislim da nije u redu da reklamiraju jedan event i da ga ozvanice, a da onda naprasno promene odluku, malo je neozbiljno, ima i drugih boraca, bez obzira sto je Vitor vec bio u miksu za title shot vec od UFC 112.

Ja mislim da je ok raspored sada, zapravo mislim da Sonnen i nije trebalo da odma ima revans jer ipak i drugi cekaju u redu.
Ali zato batica Belfort ne prasta. Jedva cekam mec.

belfort skida silvu, prilicno sam uveren u to. okami vs belfort ce biti opak mech.
ne znam zasto niko ne voli okami-a, ja licno mislim da je on jedan od najkompletnijih boraca danasnjice.
sam card je po meni bio prilicno dosadan sto se tice main card-a, a prelimsi su bili jako zanimljivi. nije mi jasno sto je tako malo ljudi bilo, da sam znao verovatno bih otisao u oberhauzen. :)
